What does Sport Compact performance really mean. We put four of these little speedsters to the test. Competing for the title: From Japan we have two entries...the Honda Civic Si, and the Supercharged Scion TC, representing Germany its the Volkswagen "Obey your fast" GTI, and from the good old USA its the Supercharged Chevy Cobalt wearing the SS badge.

The gti is crap. ...
The gti is crap. Slow, unreliable, bad on gas, looks like s**t and is expensive.? The cobalt ss should've been first. Its cheap, its fast, its good on gas, and the new turbo ones run with mustangs. And wtf? The shift nob on the tc was for the automatic. That's why it was too f**kin big. The si needs a turbo from the factory. I say it should be: 1. Cobalt ss. 2. Civic si. 3. Scion tc. 4. Golf gti.

I disagree I just got a 2008 Scion tc? for my 17th birthday and its the hottest thing on the block its fast looks good and its great on gas

well the TC guy is ...
well the TC guy is a friend of mine and we raced many times, we even swaped cars to se if it was the driver but? it was about the same result. The scion is quite heavy in comparison with a little plastic paneled twin cam.

The things they ...
The things they don't factor into these reviews are base price, price to repair and insure. I looked into buying the GTI? and the SI before purchasing my SS. Those two were just far too much money. The GTI was almost 7k more than the Cobalt and the price to insure it was outrageous. And the price of replacement parts for any German car is crazy. Same for the SI (minus replacing parts). I like both cars, but best bang for your buck is the Cobalt.
